Performance Tips

  • Enable D3DMetal in CrossOver: In the bottle settings, go to "Advanced" and ensure "D3DMetal" is enabled. This translates DirectX to Metal, giving a 20-30% performance boost over the default DXVK.
  • Lower Resolution Scale: If you experience frame drops on an M1 Mac, set "Resolution Scale" to 80% in the game's settings. The visual difference is minimal, but it smooths out performance.
  • Close Background Apps: Safari and Chrome tabs consume RAM. Close unnecessary apps to free up memory, especially on 8 GB Macs.
  • Use a Wired Controller: Bluetooth controllers can introduce slight input lag. For the best response, use a wired Xbox or PlayStation controller.
  • Disable Steam Cloud Sync: If you notice stuttering on startup, disable Steam Cloud Sync for this game. Right-click the game > Properties > General > uncheck "Keep game saves in the Steam Cloud."
  • Monitor with Activity Monitor: Open Activity Monitor and check the "GPU History" tab. If the game is using less than 70% GPU, you can safely increase graphics settings.
  • Update macOS and CrossOver: Ensure you are running the latest macOS Sequoia (or later) and the most recent version of CrossOver for optimal compatibility.
